Minister Dinh Tien Dung addressed at the Investment Promotion Conference in Korea

The conference attracted more than 400 Korean investors and attended by leaders of relevant agencies such as Korea Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC), Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) , The Korean Financial Investors Association (KOFIA), the Korea Stock Exchange (KRX), Korean businesses, investment funds, investment banks and major insurance corporations in Korea.

Speaking at the opening session of the conference, Minister of Finance Dinh Tien Dung highly appreciated the active participation of Korean investors and partners, showing their responsibility in joint attempt to strengthen the prosperous Vietnamese-Korean relations. South Korea was currently the second largest trading partner of Vietnam and Vietnam was South Korea's fourth largest trading partner, a series of free trade agreements have been signed, including Hiep Vietnam - Korea Free Trade Area (VKFTA), creating trade flows between countries and stakeholders.

Currently, South Korean investors in Vietnam was increasing and becoming the largest among ASEAN countries. South Korea has been the biggest investor in Vietnam with a total investment of $59 billion (as of March 20, 2018). Minister Dung affirmed that the Government of Vietnam highly appreciated the trust and presence of Korean financial corporations and investors in Vietnam over the past three decades.

Addressing at the conference, Mr. JunDong Kim, Vice Chairman of Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of the Association of South Korean Investors, said that Korean investors were very interested in Vietnam, especially in the context where the Korean Government developed a new South Oriented Strategy in an attempt to increase trade between South Korea and ASEAN, in which Vietnam is a key partner of cooperation. The Association of Korean Investors currently has 200,000 members, of which over 50% was interested in Asia and Vietnam was paid the greatest attention to.

Minister Dung emphasized "We hope that after this conference, the two countries' businesses will have more ideas and new cooperation projects to deepen economic cooperation and Vietnam - Korea strategic partnership. The MOF Vietnam pledges to accompany and facilitate the enterprise of the two countries, aiming to increase the trade turnover between the two countries to more than $ 100 billion by 202, making Korea a leading country in Vietnam’s direct and indirect investment./.
